Mobtown Theater

Meadow MillFormerly the London Fog factory, Meadow Mill is home to a number of non-profits, many of them with an artistic bent: Morton Street Dance Company, the Baltimore Pottery Guild, the Baltimore Gemcutters Guild, and the Handel Choir – just to name a few.

The space began life as a theater under the old Axis Theater, and The Mobtown Players – in our old itinerant days – had the privilege of using the space for our fourth show. When Axis folded, Mobtown and Run of the Mill went in together to rent the space. Mobtown is proud of our tradition of giving a number of theater companies their first performance space in Baltimore, including – most recently – Teatro 101 and Glass Mind.

The Mobtown Theater is a 68-seat venue, and fully handicapped-accessible. Most nights our concession stand offers not only munchies and soda, but also beer and wine. Unlike many theaters, we believe that a show is best enjoyed with a beverage; we allow whatever you buy at the concession stand to be brought into the theater during the show.

Directions

It’s tough to find, we admit it.  Google, MapQuest, GPS – nothing seems to work very well, we’re afraid.  We’re hoping the very new lighted sign on the building that says – very prominently – “MEADOW MILL” – will help people out.  We’re in that building.  But to take you to our doorstep….

From 83 heading north (Orange route):

  • Take the Falls Road exit.  It will dump you off heading north on Falls Road (MD25).
  • Go through two stop lights (one at 36th Street, the next at Rite Aid).
  • Take the next left onto Union Ave. It is easy to miss this turn, so be on alert.  It is very soon after the Rite Aid.
  • Follow this down to the stop sign at the Pepsi plant; turn left onto Clipper Mill Road before going under I-83.
  • Take the first right you can into the Meadow Mill Complex, and go over a wooden bridge.
  • Turn to the left and go all the way around the building past the Athletic Club and loading dock and the ramp from Union Avenue.  Find Parking.
  • Enter the first entrance on your right.  Follow the signs.

From 83 heading south (Blue route):

  • Take the Cold Spring Lane exit east.  Make a right onto Falls Road (MD25).
  • Once you pass the McDonald’s, look for the Meadow Mill Athletic Club sign, right after the VFW.
  • Take a right onto Union Ave. It is easy to miss this turn, so be on alert.   It is right after the VFW.

Video Directions

Hey! Look at this! The guys over at Glass Mind put together this video for those of you more spatially aware.

Super Secret Back Door Entrance

(But only if you DO NOT CROSS THE LIGHT RAIL TRACKS!!!)

  • Follow the above directions until you get to the Pepsi plant, but continue past the Pepsi plant and under the I-83 overpass.
  • Take a left down the skinny ramp/driveway just (and I mean just) a few feet in front of the Light Rail;
  • Go to the bottom of the driveway and make a U-turn.  Find parking.
  • Enter the first entrance to your right.  Follow the signs.

Parking

There is ample parking in the lot around the Meadow Mill Complex.

Light Rail

We are also very convenient to Light Rail; the Woodberry stop is right at the top of the driveway/ramp.

The Concession Stand

Most nights we offer a small selection of beer and wine, along with soda, water, and snacks and candy.  The best part is, we’re not like those fussy theaters you go to.  We want you to bring your beer and potato chips from the concession stand into the theater.  And if you run out in the middle of the show, feel free to quietly extricate yourself from your seat and come out to the lobby for another.

The Neighborhood

It’s happening in Hampden!  Several fine establishments to eat and drink.  And I can’t even go on about half the shopping.  Most of everything is on The Avenue – 36th Street – and is about two blocks away.  And, hey, if you want to know a little more about the ‘hood – The Hampden Village Merchants Association.

And if Hampden doesn’t do it for ya’, you can always skip over to Coldspring Lane a few more blocks away to take advantage of a few other Baltimore treasures.  Or even head towards Homewood and Charles Village.

Before the show, after the show – there’s always something else to do!

Ticket Information

Tickets are $15 for General Admission and $12 for both Senior and Student tickets and may be purchased on-line through Brown Paper Tickets.  For more information, see our Tickets page.

Handicapped Access

Because of the venue, every performance will be handicapped accessible.  Handicapped parking is clearly marked in the parking lot in front of the theater’s entrance.  Use the ramp to the main door.  When reserving tickets, please let us know that you are coming so we can make your evening as enjoyable as possible.
